On Sunday, August 8, at 5:00 p.m., Mark Anderson, celebrated Bay Area pianist, will present an afternoon performance of Chopin on the grand piano in the Piedmont Center for the Arts. Heralded by The Washington Post (“In a world where transient glitter is often mistaken for pianistic excellence, Anderson offered that rare commodity: an ability to speak through music without hint of artifice.”) and the Financial Times of London (“Anderson has a wonderful gift for achieving great warmth in the whole piano sound whilst keeping every strand clear and luminous. He boasts not only the full-scale grasp of the music, but the immaculate pedal technique needed to realize it. He is a musician eminently worth hearing.”) Mark will offer several of the Chopin works he is currently recording for Nimbus Records.
Ticket price is $25. The repertoire for this hour-long event will be:
Fantasy in F minor Berceuse
Etudes, Op. 10
No. 3, E Major
No. 4, C# Minor No. 5, G flat Major
Ballades
No. 1, G Minor
No. 4, F Minor

This event is being billed as an “Informance” in that it includes a performance (music of Chopin) and an opportunity to learn about the work of The Resonance Project. (TRP). Founder and President of TRP, Jonathan Dimmock, will give a short introduction to the exciting work of this Project. TRP is a nonprofit organization, based in San Francisco, that brings together the work of musicians and neuroscientists to solve one of the world’s great problems: impasses in communication, most especially within the context of mediation and conflict resolution. Heralded for its innovation by President Barak Obama, TRP envisions collaborating with the United Nations and State Departments around the world to become a catalyst for finding common ground on the international stage.
