Event Details

If you see a hundreds of people in Union Square on Friday night with boom boxes, glow sticks, hula hoops, jump ropes and giant stuffed animals you’ll know you stumbled upon the Decentralized Electronic Music Dance Party.

It’s a mostly disorganized flash-mob type mobile dance party where a DJ streams electronic music via a low-power FM transmitter and everyone who carries a boombox becomes a speaker making for some crazy surround sound.

Decentralized dance parties are mobile dance parties in which participants bring boom boxes and tune into the frequency transmitted by the DJ with an FM transmitter.

Apocalypse DJ Harmon will be streaming electronic music to your boombox via FM transmitter while you party down in and around Union Square getting up to all sorts of fun. Raid your thrift store and get a boom box or FM radio walkman.

What to bring to party:

  • A boom box
  • Pogo stick
  • Party Lights and Glow sticks
  • Costume
  • Go shirtless
  • Your own booze
  • Jump rope
  • Balloons
  • Beach Ball
  • Giant Stuffed Animals
