Event Details

Join the San Francisco Arts Commission to celebrate acclaimed author, local icon, and 2016 Mayor’s Art Award recipient Armistead Maupin. This is the first time a writer has been recognized with the City’s highest artistic honor.

At this free event Mr. Maupin will appear in conversation with author and activist Jewelle Gomez. They will discuss a range of topics including Mr. Maupin’s artistic process, his relationship to San Francisco (and “Tales of the City”) and his reflections on lessons learned throughout his life.

The program will also include a brief look at some of the Arts Commission’s recent accomplishments as well as some important upcoming initiatives.

Following the talk you are invited from 6-6:30 p.m. for an informal reception in the SFAC Main Gallery, located on the ground floor of the Veterans Building.
