Basque Cultural Center Anniversary Festival (SF)

The Basque Cultural Center is celebrating 44 years with a weekend packed full of what we do best: delicious food, live music and dancing, world-class pilota, folkloric performances, and plenty of good company. Whether you’re a longtime member or joining us for the first time, come experience the Basque spirit in the Bay Area. Here’s a taste of what’s in store:

Thrilling Basque Pilota Matches – Come watch elite men and women athletes from the Basque Country compete in Joko Garbi, Jai-Alai (renowned to be among the fastest ball sports in the world), as well as Esku Pilota (handball).

Live Music & Dantzaldia – Back by popular demand, Kontrabanda returns to power up our Dantzaldia all weekend with infectious, crowd-moving songs!

Film Screening (Sponsored by the Basque Educational Organization) – “Réseau Sans Nom” (No Name Line) is a powerful documentary about a secret Basque Resistance network during WW2.

Folkloric Performances & Meza – Enjoy performances by San Francisco Zazpiak Bat Dance Group & Klika, Gazteak Dancers, and the Elgarrekin Choir during and following Sunday Meza.

Special Presentations – On Saturday, learn about the National Basque WWII Memorial project by Dr. Pedro J. Oiarzabal, followed by a special Sunday awards ceremony honoring four exceptional BCC community members.

Food & Wine – Our BBQ heroes are back to bring you mouthwatering steak on Saturday and epic rack of lamb on Sunday. Meals come with all the fixings, dessert, coffee, and lots of wine. Yes, these are the meals our festivals are known for!
