Bay Area “George Floyd” Protest Planned in Oakland for Friday at 8pm

According to indybay.org, “An anonymous group has called for a display of “vengeance” Friday night beginning at Oscar Grant Plaza at 8pm in response to the murder of George Floyd.”

Event Details from the organizers

• Solidarity demonstration with the uprising in Minneapolis against the police murder of George Floyd
• This Friday 5/29 8pm Downtown Oakland Oscar Grant Plaza (14th & Broadway)

Additionally, Black Oakland youth have made a call out for a demonstration Monday at 4pm beginning at Oakland Tech, and on June 3rd, there is a 4pm demonstration planned at Mission High in San Francisco. Learn More.

Why is Funcheap posting about this? Funcheap wants everyone to be safe so we are simply reporting that this protest is scheduled to take place so that you can avoid the area should you wish, or if you join you can read the proposed safety plan to help keep you and others safe.

There is also a virtual vigil on March 30th at noon as well as a “Justice for George Floyd & Breonna Taylor Car Caravan” in Oakland on Sunday at 2pm.
