“Beach Blanket Babylon” 40th Anniversary Celebration | SF City Hall

With more than 30 incredible hats and outrageous costumes and wigs, the City of San Francisco will salute 40 years of Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon with a special public celebration at San Francisco’s City Hall.

Foam San Francisco Skyline Hats, free Humphry Slocombe “Beach Blanket Babylon Goes Bananas” ice cream and custom Ghirardelli Chocolate bars will be handed out to guests

Mayor Ed Lee, Willie Brown, the Gay Men’s Chorus and other city, civic and arts leaders will join the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon during this salute to the world’s longest-running musical revue in an “only in San Francisco” event.

And when we say “join the cast,” we mean that both Ed Lee and Willie Brown will be part of the performance. Mums the word on exactly what they’ll be doing, but we’re excited by anything Willie is involved in.

Expect a 30 minute performance with the full cast in costume to begin at noon.
