Check out Underground Nomads Tuesdays at F8 with Bay Area’s most eclectic DJs breaking barriers of genre and culture with World Music, including bhangra, Balkan, Latin and middle eastern music, plus live Bhangra and belly dancing performances, and tribal and bass DJ sets.

Resident DJs include DJ Amar, Santero, Suresh, Dulce Vita and Sep. Each night begins with dance performances featuring Bay Area local favorites and guest dancers from around the world. They’ll often have amazing talent from Europe, South America, Asia and across North America.

See the dance performances followed by dancefloor DJ sets until 10 pm. Enjoy happy hour specials at the bar until 10 pm, and select all-night drink specials.

Please note, on special 5th Tuesday fundraising benefit nights, cover is higher, but happily discounted to $5 when you mention Funcheap.

Holiday Edition | CANCELLED: Global Bass & Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Night | SoMa

Meet up for a special holiday edition of Underground Nomad on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013.

DJ Amar and Maneesh the Twister will be providing the music for the dancefloor and for the Improv. Belly Dance Jam.

Belly Dancers of all backgrounds are welcome to join. Dancers of all forms are welcome to join.All you’ll need to do is check in and note down your name, and they’ll pull it out of the champagne bucket in random order. You will dance to whatever they are playing. It will be pure improv. Performers and DJs will all improv.

This is a format that DJ Amar, Calamity Sam and the Los Angeles area belly dance community have been doing at shows in LA called Eclectic Ensemble. They are bringing the vibe to SF for a night.

Dancers show up in street clothes, minimal or no dance costume, and get called up to perform by the MC, who has times and calls names to switch dancers every 3 or so minutes. The music never stops, the DJs keep spinning, dancers hop in mid song and into the next song if it switches within the 3 minutes.

The performances will begin shortly after 10 pm. Depending on how many performers sign up, they will either do 1 or 2 sets. Most of the night will be open dancefloor and hanging out at the bar.
