Blank Plancard Dance & Live Mural Creation: Anna Halprin Tribute | Mission Dist.

Originally performed in the 1960s by legendary dancer Anna Halprin & the San Francisco Dancer’s Workshop, the Blank Placard Dance returns to The City, with Anna Halprin – soon to be 95 years old – participating in the event. The event will culminate with the creation of a mural.

The public is invited to participate. Directed by Rosario Sammartino in collaboration with artists Jahan Khalighi and Dohee Lee, this community performance provokes audience participation and active involvement in the issues that matter on a personal and collective level. It is an intergenerational opportunity for community expression through the arts. The public will be invited to answer a simple question: What matters to you? Dancers and musicians will collect from the audience what they would like to see on the blank placards.

The Blank Plancard Dance takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 (not May 15 as was originally posted).

• 2:10-2:40 pm – 24th Street Bart Station
• 2:40-3:10 pm – East on 24th Street
• 3:10-3:45 pm – Balmy Alley

Community Mural Creation

• 3:45-5 pm – Garfield Square (at Harrison & 26th St)
