The annual Bluegrass Pickin’ Picnic returns to Golden Gate Park on May 4, 2019.
It’s a great chance for city dwellers to get outside, get some fresh air, and enjoy an afternoon of music, good food, and good company.
It’s a treat, whether you’re a jammer or just someone who wants to enjoy live, acoustic music on a lovely day in the park. It’s also a great reason for out-of-towners to plan a trip to San Francisco.
Bring a blanket (and an instrument if you like) or just kick back and watch some of the Bay Area’s top bluegrass, country and folk performers as they get together for an impromptu concert jam.
Bluegrass Pickin’ Picnic in Golden Gate Park
Saturday, May 4, 2019 | Noon to 6 pm
Dahlia Picnic Area, Golden Gate Park
FREEThere’ll be some food provided to share. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish, beverages, and a jug of water. Your hosts will bring plates, cups, and utensils. Please note, they won’t be bringing a grill because it’s no longer allowed in the Dahlia Dell.
The grove is near the statue of President Garfield on JFK Drive. Look for signs directing you to the Bluegrass Pickin’ Picnic and keep your ear cocked for the sound of banjos, fiddles, and guitars, along with various high lonesome vocal stylings.
There’s plenty of room to spread out and have several jams. Bring your instruments, friends, and family. Chairs or blankets to sit on will be handy too.
This event is open to all who play or like to listen to bluegrass music.
