DEFUND THE POLICE and SAVE OUR SERVICES
El Cerrito residents will caravan to City Hall and call on the City Council to denounce 5.2 million dollars in cuts by slashing social services and instead, cut the police budget-now representing 30% of the budget. Here is the plan:

1. Be familiar with the petition that we will read. Here is the link: Petition for El Cerrito Police Oversight and Change
2. Meet at the El Cerrito Plaza BART Lot on the corner of Richmond St. and Central Ave. 6:00 p.m. cars and bikes will line up, get information for the route, and snake our way through the neighborhoods until we arrive at City Hall by 6:45 p.m.
3. We will have a short car rally, be ready to dial into the City Council Meeting, and have our comments ready. To ensure that you will be called upon you can email anytime before the meeting (do it now) Via email to cityclerk@ci.elcerrito.ca.us. Email must contain in the subject line: public comments – not on the agenda We encourage you to send an email for being a speaker today!
Complete instructions can be found here: How to access and comment on meeting and Agenda
4. For those who cannot stay for public comment or attend caravan, please see the instructions above for how you can watch and participate.
5. Attend the virtual meeting of the Human Relations Commission and support an action for racial justice in our community. We are asking for a town hall on systemic racism in El Cerrito. See information here to access: Human Relations Commission access and agenda
In the name of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Aumaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, Michael Brown….and so many others …Enough is Enough. Take a stand, speak out, and take action. Join US!
