Chiara Scura: Shimmering Synths & Haunting Vocals | The Chapel

Chiaroscuro, a technique used by Renaissance painters to add depth and boldness to their work, means “light-dark”. The term is used to describe paintings with high contrast of light and shadow. Chiara Scura, the side project of The Tropics lead singer, Claire George, employs the same technique, balancing light and dark in her music, giving her sound depth and contrast. Her powerful and at times haunting vocals soar over shimmering pop synth lines, simultaneously giving her sound both an ethereal lightness and eerie darkness.

Chiara Scura will be opening for Foxtrott at the Pop Montreal showcase in September and releasing an EP later this year.
