Thanks to KRON4 for letting us know that two Alameda restaurants were targeted by early-morning burglaries this week.

As if COVID-19 and the subsequent restrictions put in place weren’t enough for restaurants struggling these days, neighboring businesses Monkey King Pub & Grub and Hobnob on Park Street were burglarized causing thousands of dollars of damage.

“So this happened 3 AM today..to add to the list of things we’re worried about..Covid-19, health of the staff and guest, getting people to wear mask to get service, looting, the economy, all our neighbors closing permanently, our kids education, third world hunger due to covid, homelessness, mental health, racial equality, the list goes on and on!!”Monkey King Pub & Grub on Facebook – Aug. 6, 2020

Thieves were caught on camera using a torch to shatter the glass doors of Monkey King and stole $1,000 in cash. They then went next door to Hobnob and tried to break into their safe and caused about $1,000 of property damage.

Both restaurants and filed police reports and have reopened for takeout.
