The International Indian Treaty Council presents Indigenous Peoples’ Annual Thanksgiving Sunrise Gathering on Alcatraz Island, part of the San Francisco Ohlone Territory, on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

FREE but you’ll need a boat ticket to get to Alcatraz

Tickets to Alcatraz are $14 for adults and free for children under 5. The Pier 33 ticket office opens at 4:15 am; boats run from 4:45-6 am.

There will be presenters on current and past Indigenous Peoples’ struggles to defend human rights, sovereignty, treaties, sacred sites and traditional lands, plus drummers and dancers. The event commemorates 524 years of Indigenous resistance, honoring their ancestors and future generations, as well as IITC’s 42 years of work for the rights and recognition of Indigenous Peoples, 1974 – 2017.
