SF Has 3rd Worst Traffic in America. Ouch.
Nor-Cal? More like Slow-Cal
They can’t win a World Series or an NBA title, but LA did finish first at something. Our smoggy neighbors to the south had the worst traffic in America for 2015.
But don’t get too cocky SFers, San Francisco claimed the third spot with an average of 75 hours wasted in traffic in 2015 – just a hair better Washington D.C. and a shade worse than Houston and NYC. So it’s not great by any stretch to be a care commuter in SF. But as long as it’s worse in LA, then we can celebrate just a little.
And the worst traffic spots in the Bay Area?
Consider yourself very unlucky if you need to cross the Bay Bridge. The eight mile stretch starting at Potrero Ave to the toll plaza was the 12th worst traffic corridor in the country with a total of 42 hours wasted a year. The worst time is Thursdays at 8am. Check the traffic scorecard to see how your commute stacks up.
The Worst Traffic Corridors in the Bay Area 2015
LA Has the Worst Traffic in America. Ha Ha.
Just like botox freezes the face muscles of many of its residents, the traffic in LA seems to be in a constant state of non-motion.
According to a 2015 traffic study by INRIX Inc. (a road traffic tracking company, not a new Viagra competitor), Los Angeles tops the list of the top five most congested cities in America with motorists spending an average of 81 hours sitting still on the road in 2015.
That’s longer than San Franciscans wait for in line for brunch per month (but not by much).
