Market Street Prototyping Festival
Market Street comes alive with over 40 prototype projects. The wide sidewalks will be filled with temporary installations ranging from performance spaces, relaxation zones, dynamic art pieces, and more.
Market Street runs through the heart of our beautiful city, yet it can feel uninviting and disconnected. The Market Street Prototyping Festival aims to bring together people from different neighborhoods and backgrounds for three days of temporary installations ranging from performance spaces to play zones to dynamic art pieces, and all of them aim to inspire community engagement.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), in partnership with the San Francisco Planning Department, announces the selection of 40 prototypes to be on display as part of the 2016 Market Street Prototyping Festival.
Spanning three districts—Central Market, Retail Heart, and Embarcadero—the festival will feature prototypes by veteran and emerging designers who are passionate about community, art, innovation, and redesigning public space.
Each festival district is overseen by a local design expert organization who’s role is to advise the prototyper teams within their associated district from concept to design to construction to help each team realize a well-crafted, durable, and beautiful prototype.
