“MEX I AM” is the first festival of its kind in the Bay Area, showcasing the best performing arts, culture, and ideas from Mexico.

This multi-disciplinary festival will feature some of the best Mexican performers from various genres and traditions, as well as presentations from some of the most influential Mexicans in their fields of expertise around the world.

Luis Carreño is a Mexican Cartoonist who studied drawing at the Academy of Art in Paris, France. He is well known around the world because he has received on several occasions the National Journalism Prize for caricature. Luis will present an exhibition in San Francisco to show some of his most relevant cartoon art works.

“Science in surrealism” marks the first exhibition devoted to surrealist artists interested in the investigation of the scientific progress of the first half of the twentieth century, especially those related to quantum physics and the theory of relativity. The exhibition includes paintings and drawings and seminal drawings that show the ways in which these artists responded to the scientific writing and the thinking of their time.

TECH: Speakers of ¡IDEAS! Festival

Like an awesome Mexican-themed TED event, Speakers of ¡IDEAS! will deliver a talk on a topic of their expertise ranging from neuroscience, cuisine, film-making, physics, music and more. The presentations are short, to the point and easy to understand. No technical knowledge on any field is required (so no two hour mathematical conferences here). The speakers are all Mexican, and the talks will be all in English (with a sexy accent, of course).

GALA: Mexican Ballet & Opera

In this gala evening we will be presenting Isaac Hernández, principal dancer of The Royal Ballet of London and his brother Esteban Hernández, promising young star of national and international ballet, who is part of the San Francisco Ballet. The evening presentation will showcase, as well, one of the recipients of the Plácido Domingo’s scholarship, Mexico’s most prominent young artist award, Mario Rojas who will delight us with his voice with an opera presentation.
