 rolls into Jack London Square to celebrate all-things cycling at the Bay Area’s finest bicycle festival featuring handmade and vintage bike shows, Unicycle Basketballa bicycle rodeo, BMX performances, bike powered live music, bike raffles, U.S. Bicycling Olympian Meet & Greet and more.

This annual event packs the waterfront with more than 20,000 biking enthusiasts enjoying bicycle-themed entertainment, food and exhibits.

In 2015, two-wheeled excitement includes:

Meet an Olympian – Nelson Vails, silver medalist in the 1984 Los Angeles games, will be at Pedalfest. Come meet “The Cheetah.”

Whiskeydrome Stunt Action – Cycling daredevils will ride at thrilling speeds and perform exciting stunts in a 30-foot banked wooden velodrome

Oaklandish’s Kids Bicycle Parade – Be a part of Oaklandish’s kids bicycle parade and help kick-off 2015 Pedalfest. Children are invited to show up with already-decorated bicycles, or they can deck-out their bikes at a special Oaklandish decorating station, at 11 am. The parade will cruise through Jack London Square at 11:30 am.

Bicycle Stunt Shows – Professional stunt riders Ryan Leach and Casey Holm will wow crowds with exciting, two-wheeled stunts showcasing bicycle balancing and agility on obstacles

Rock the Bike’s Pedal-powered Sound Stage – Enjoy live music on Rock the Bike’s pedal-powered sound stage that produces electricity from the pedaling of stationary bicycles.

Pedal-powered Art & Food – Hop on stationary bicycles and pedal to create smoothies and enjoy other pedal-powered treats including coffee, tacos, ice cream and more! Pedalfest-goers are also invited to create pedal-powered spin art to take home and enjoy.

Kids Bicycle Rodeo – A team of youth cycling instructors will lead a fun-filled bicycle rodeo for children throughout the day including a bike safety course, skills building lessons and bicycle safety instructions. Bikes and helmets will be provided to participating children, grades 3-6.

New Belgium Beer Garden – New Belgium Brewing Co. will pour beer with all proceeds going to support the advocacy work of Bike East Bay, a non-profit organization.

Whymcycles – Builder Peter Wagner brings his cycling creations to Pedalfest. From penny-farthing high wheelers to miniature hand cycles, he has spent years creating an eclectic collection of handmade bicycles built from recycled carparts, trampolines, old bicycles and more!

The Exploratorium’s Science of Cycling – Families will enjoy this hands-on exhibit that examines the science behind bicycling including the wheel; drivers and gears; framers and materials; breaking and steering; aerodynamics; and human power.

Bike Build – Artists from Oakland’s non-profit industrial arts school The Crucible will participate in a bike build culminating with finished creations at the end of the day.

Theft Prevention Photo Booth – This fun and informative photo booth will raise awareness for bicycle theft and supply owners with the tools to file a police report in the event their bike is stolen. Cyclists will take a photo of their bicycle and then receive their serial number.

Bike Sports: Bike Polo + Unicycle Basketball – Observe a great exhibition of bike polo – a fast, fun and friendly competition. Also two teams will engage in a fun exhibition game of unicycle basketball with all players maneuvering the court on a single wheel.

Bay Area Bike’s “Bike Stand” Demo Stage – This festival stage will host contests, demos, tricks and DIY bicycle tips throughout the day.

Drag Bicycle Bingo – Join the delightful divas of The Sister of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. as they lead a series of bike bingo games sure to be fun and outrageous

Brompton Urban Challenge – The Brompton Urban Challenge will see contestants compete as individuals or teams on bikes, with each team requiring a minimum of one Brompton folding bike.

Win a New Belgium Cruiser Bike – Pedalfest’s raffle this year includes a limited edition New Belgium Cruiser, a messenger bag from Rickshaw Bagworks and more. Tickets will be sold at the event only and benefit Bike East Bay.

Bicycles and Bike Gear – Check out the latest bicycles, gear, clothing and accessories from dozens of bicycle vendors. Pedalfest brings together many local, innovative, and inventive vendors for an amazing array and selection of bike accessories.

Bicycle Expo – Come to Pedalfest to explore a collection of vintage bicycles, rideable replicas, and steel creations from top independent bicycle frame builders.

Oakland Public Library Bike Library – The city’s bike powered bookmobile pulls into Pedalfest with cascading bookshelves filled with books for locals to browse and even check out.

Adaptive Cycling – Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) will display highlights from the country’s largest collection of cycles for people with physical disabilities from the Adaptive Cycling Center, in Berkeley.

Pop Up Bike Skills Park – Kids of all ages and abilities can ride this temporary bike park featuring a Pumptrack, freeride features, a 180 degree banked turn, balance beams, teeter totters and more. El Cerrito High School team coach Gary Hill will be on hand to offer skills clinics and basic to advance bike riding Instruction.

e-bike Test Track – Curious about electric bikes? Visit with manufacturers’ reps, see the latest in bike tech and test ride a variety of e-bikes, including electric cargo bikes, on the e-bike test track located inside the Jack London Market building. Riders must be 18 years of age.
