SF’s Bob’s Donuts is Moving! (Just One Block Away)
Thanks for KRON4 and Hoodline for letting us know that, although our favorite late-night donut shop is closing down its original Polk Street location, it’s not all bad news.
After over 50 years of serving up hot donuts at 1621 Polk Street @ Clay, the iconic Bob’s Donuts 24/7 donut haven is packing up and relocating to 1720 Polk Street – just about 270 feet away and across the street.
The change comes after lease negotiations with their landlord hit a sticky patch, along with a change in the city’s rules regarding legacy businesses.
The new digs promise an even sweeter experience with a larger dining room and expanded space to accommodate those famously long lines. The move is expected to take place soon (there’s no specific timetable yet).
The move is a big win for the Ahn family, who have been at the helm since 1977, ensuring that the sugary legacy of Bob’s Donuts continues to thrive.
While the flagship location is getting an upgrade, Bob’s Donuts fans can still get their fix at two other locations: 601 Baker Street at Clayton in the Haight in San Francisco and 252 Almonte Boulevard in Mill Valley.
Today we introduced legislation to help our beloved Polk Gulch small business Bob’s Donuts relocate to a new home nearby. They should be celebrating, but they’re focused instead on helping Bob’s Donuts baker, Jesus Zamudio, heal from a hit+run.
