Sir Francis Drake Statue Removed in Larkspur
In response to planned demonstration, statue near Larkspur Ferry Terminal was removed this week

After a petition was circulated a controversial statue of Sir Francis Drake near the Larkspur Ferry Terminal was taken down earlier this week.
According to the city of Larkspur, the statue removal was temporary in response to potential protests planning: “The removal is in response to planned demonstrations to tear down or demolish the statue this Thursday in a way that is potentially unsafe. Removing the statue is intended to promote public safety while preserving the statue so that dialogue about its future can continue.”
