Tour de Fat
Get ready for another wild, wonky day of bike philanthropy, beer, bikes and bemusement as New Belgium’s Tour de Fat 2015 stops in SF with live music, strange bicycle mayhem, lots of beer, and lots of recycling and composting.
2015 Tour de Fat
Saturday, September 19, 2015 | 10 am to 5 pm
Lindley Meadow, Golden Gate Park (near 30th Ave & JFK)
FREERSVP for a Free Beer Token
Thanks to the SF Bicycle Coalition, RSVP no later than 5pm on Friday 9/18 and you’ll have a beer token waiting for you at the Orange SF Bicycle Coalition Booth. 1 token per person, and 21+, duh.

The event kicks off with a costumed bicycle parade that winds through Golden Gate Park, followed by eclectic entertainment from musical acts to yo-yo performers, bike contests and even vaudeville acts. 2015 will also include some brewing education and feature a “Bicycle Revival” to inspire festival-goers to believe in the power of two-wheeled transportation.

Be a Car Trader
Have you been thinking about ditching your car? Do it for the Tour de Fat and win $2,250 to create the bicycle ride of your dreams. One lucky winner (it could be you) will become the center of the show as he or she gets up on stage, hands over their car keys, and pledges to live one year car-free. Vehicles for Charity will auction the cars, with proceeds benefitting SF Bicycle Coalition and Bay Area Ridge Trail Council. What about families and dogs? There are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, so bring the lil’ ones out with you. Dogs are welcome, but as with any large public event, please only bring pawed pals with a lot of experience at loud, crowded events.
Tour de Fat is proud to be a model of total self-sustainability in the form of an all solar/b100 biodiesel fueled event; they collect about 300 pounds of compost, 70 pounds of recycling, and last year, had only 12 pounds of trash generated by 6,500 attendees. Since its inception, Tour de Fat has raised more than $3 million, and raised half-a-million dollars last year alone.
