Vandalism in Golden Gate Park Cost $20,000 to Clean Up
Thanks to KRON4 for letting us know the that bill for cleaning up Friday’s vandalism cost the city of San Francisco $20,000 which included overtime and materials for repair.
The music concourse (in between the de Young and Academy of Sciences where the statues were) was shut down on Saturday for the clean-up and has since reopened to the public.
But the $20,000 bill doesn’t include the cost to the damage of the statues themselves. The city’s art commission will determine that cost at a later date.
For the time being, the statues that were torn down have been placed in storage.
The mayor has ordered the arts commission to review all public art (including statues)
The Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park has reopened to the public. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff who worked through the night to clean the area and reopen it to the public once again. pic.twitter.com/GG58Wd4sGu
