Free admission to Disney Museum one day a year – Walt’s birthday!

Celebrate Walt Disney’s birthday and get free admission to The Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio – the only free day of the year from 10 am to 8 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2013

The Museum will host live animation, a scavenger hunt and a film screening of Walt: The Man Behind the Myth, plus gallery talks featuring stories about Walt’s life and work, hands-on art activities and more.

Arrive early as these free day-of tickets are first come first served.

Please Note: Additional paid exhibition ticket required for Water to Paper, Paint to Sky: The Art of Tyrus Wong.

2013 Activities and related programming include:

  • Live Animation | 10:30am–12:30pm & 2:30–4:30pm | Learning Center
    Watch staff animators demonstrate the animation process.
  • Scavenger Hunt | Walter Elias Disney, I Presume?
    Pick up the clue book and puzzle your way through the collection and discover the man behind the mouse.
  • All Aboard Lilly Belle Station Spotlight Talks | Ongoing | Museum galleries
    Step right up and make a pit stop at special gallery locations, where museum educators will be stationed to conduct you through highlights in technological developments that made the magic of Disney possible.
  • Open Studio | Making Miniatures | 10:30am–5pm | Learning Center
    Walt’s love for miniatures and dioramas helped inspire his vision for entertaining people by creating a special in-person experience.
  • Film | Walt: The Man Behind the Myth | 10am, 12, 2, 4 & 6pm | Theater
    Narrated by actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke, this documentary on the life and creative genius of Walt Disney features original film footage and interviews with Disney family members and friends. This is not a ticketed screening; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
