Washington Square Park, one of the city’s first parks, established in 1847, is closing down for approximately six months for construction on June 17, 2019. The final day to enjoy the park in full will be Father’s Day, June 16, 2019
During this time, the park’s lawn will be closed, while the playground and restroom will remain open. The project will replace the park’s old irrigation system to conserve 2.2 million gallons of water per year.
