World Naked Bike Ride
Join up for the San Francisco edition of the 2014 World Naked Bike Ride Day. The Southern Hemisphere edition will meet in Justin Herman Plaza between Market Street and the Embarcadero for this international protest of our dependency on oil cartels.
Meet at 11 am for body painting (Bring body paints, washable markers, watercolors or other easily removed media to apply slogans and designs to your bodies if you wish) and then at around noon, you’ll depart from the plaza.
They will ride through many popular spots in the city such as Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, along the Embarcadero, Civic Center, and if it is warm enough, Ocean Beach, plus many more places of interest.
Not into biking? Skates, skateboards and even unicyclists have ridden along with them in the past.
5th Annual World Naked Bike Ride – Southern Hemisphere Ride
Saturday, March 8, 2014 | 11 am: Body Painting; Noon: Departure
Meet at Justin Herman Plaza, San Francisco
FREE, but please RSVP on FacebookHow “naked” is this ride? While it is a “naked” bike ride, all are welcome; ride as bare as you dare, especially with the nudity ban in San Francisco. Feel free to adorn yourself in body paint, rubber latex, a bikini, lingerie, a bubble pack, or ride along topless or in whatever costume you are comfortable riding with.
In 2013, all four World Naked Bike Rides were successful, with full nudity and no citations. The SFPD had liaisons present to iron out any details regarding the ride and the new ordinance.
Why so many “World Naked Bike Ride Days?” There are several “World Naked Bike Rides” throughout the year. The Northern Hemisphere Ride is generally in June and the Southern Hemisphere Ride is generally in March, but there are a few minor naked bike rides throughout the year. The June ride is the biggest.
