Join us for a special screening of two classic episodes of The Streets of San Francisco, the iconic 1970s crime drama that turned the city into its stage—and the Tenderloin into one of its most evocative backdrops.

PLUS: A virtual message from a special guest star!

These episodes, partially filmed on location in the TL, offer a rare window into the neighborhood’s visual and cultural landscape during a time of transformation and tension. See familiar streets through the lens of Hollywood storytelling, and reflect on how the media has shaped and reshaped the public perception of the Tenderloin over the decades.

About the Show
The Streets of San Francisco (1972–1977) was a hit police procedural series starring Karl Malden as veteran detective Lt. Mike Stone and a young Michael Douglas as his rookie partner, Inspector Steve Keller. Set and filmed on location, the show used San Francisco’s neighborhoods—not backlots—as its backdrop, capturing the city’s mood, architecture, and social issues of the era. Gritty, stylish, and atmospheric, the series remains a time capsule of 1970s San Francisco, including rare on-screen depictions of the Tenderloin.
