San Francisco is honoring Claude, the beloved albino alligator who called the California Academy of Sciences home for nearly two decades. Join the community for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Golden Gate Park for a free outdoor celebration with stories, music, and activities for all ages.

Afterwards, head across to the California Academy of Sciences for extra programs, crafts, and an artisan marketplace with Claude-themed souvenirs. Museum tickets are required for entry.

What: Claude Forever: A Celebration of Life
When: Sunday, January 18, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine (free). Additional activities inside the California Academy of Sciences, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (ticket required).

  • Parking is very limited. Walking, biking, or transit is easiest.
  • ASL interpretation and accessible seating will be provided.
  • You can also celebrate Claude online with notes, artwork, wallpapers, or merch.
  • Can’t make the event? They’ll be live-streaming main stage stories, speeches, and performances celebrating Claude’s remarkable life.
