We’re spicing things up this week with a head-to-head! Prior to prohibition, if you ordered whiskey in the US, it was most commonly rye whiskey. Prohibition gutted the rye whiskey industry though, along with all other types of alcohol production. Since the passage of the 21st Amendment, rye whiskey didn’t resurface the way other tipples did. Instead, bourbon whiskey has come a long way to become a darling child among many whiskey aficionados.

In recent years though, quality rye whiskeys have made a valiant comeback, as good things are rarely forgotten. Joining us will be distiller Alex Laufer from One Eight Distilling and distiller Jared Himstedt from Balcones Distilling to showcase their delicious expressions of these time-tested spirits. We’ll be chatting all about what differentiates rye and bourbon and makes each worthy of a permanent place in your home bar collection.
