Event Details

Edith Garcia (MFA 2004) was awarded the 2015 Viola Frey Distinguished Visiting Professorship, which gives her access to the Viola Frey archive and the ability to work closely with the Artists’ Legacy Foundation. (Garcia will teach Craft Theory and hands-on courses this fall.)

Garcia will discuss how her artistic practice has taken her around the world via the residencies she’s undertaken as well as the unique experience of going from a full-time artist to researcher and writer at the Royal College of Art in London.

Garcia is a mentor for Hothouse the Crafts Council’s professional development program in the United Kingdom. She is also working as a consultant with Pro Arts Gallery developing and organizing its Professional Development series, Two Cent’s Worth. (The series will take place at Pro Arts in downtown Oakland in October.)
