Be ready to make a lot of noise.
El Cerrito’s caravan to support Black Lives Matter is now a weekly action due to so many people who stand up for racial justice in our community.
We meet by 6:00 pm on Tuesdays (no longer Thursdays) where we will line up in the lot, get route directions and learn about what we can do to take action. Each week, we will have a specific call to action that you can do from your car.
How to Participate
We must continue to demonstrate that without justice there is no peace. Please help us make changes in the policing and systemic racism in our community. Join the Caravan and bring along other cars or bicyclists. Make noise. Bring pots and pans, megaphones, etc. This is a family friendly event. No need to leave your car. Please bring signs so you will be visual and send a message.
Meet at the El Cerrito Plaza BART Lot on the corner of Richmond St. and Central Ave. At 6pm, cars and bikes will line up, get information for the route and snake our way through the neighborhoods until we arrive at City Hall by 6:45pm.
This week’s agenda
In the name of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Aumaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, Michael Brown….and so many others …Enough is Enough. Take a stand, speak out, and take action. Join us.
  • Our city is about to cut 5.5 million dollars from services while our police department represents 30% of the budget, using almost 13 million dollars of our funds. On August 1st, the city is holding a Town Hall Budget Meeting. Let them know what you think. Attend the meeting.
  • Your participation keeps the message alive and the pressure real, so that our local officials will take anti-racist action, including making policy changes in the policing of our city. You can write them today and ask them to support the demands of the petition, or any particular item. We believe they are ready to make change, but you must hold them accountable.
  • Your participation helps us garner new awareness to the Petition for El Cerrito Police Oversight and Change. Please read and sign if you have not done so. We are seeking 500 signatures by August 18th.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
