Mountain View’s Shoreline Lake “Kayak Polo Cup of the West” (April 20-21)
EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.
The 3rd Annual Kayak Polo Cup of the West (“COW”) tournament will take place at Shoreline Lake in Mountain View, on Saturday (April 20th) and Sunday (April 21st). As this event is open for public viewing, it’s an opportunity to watch a thrilling, fast-paced and internationally competitive sport described as a cross between water polo, basketball, and hockey.
Three teams for each of the four divisions (A, B, Women & Youth) are expected to compete, and the competition is currently scheduled to go from 8am-6pm (Sat) and 8am-4pm (Sun). Shoreline was chosen as the site given their affiliation with the Bay Area Kayak Polo Club — practices are held at the lake, including for their US National Team members — and role as prior host for the US Kayak Polo National Championships and other official ranking competitions, as well as the extent of the kayaking and kayak polo activities available, optimal location, and protected environment.
A family-friendly event, spectators can have a great view of the competition and action from anywhere along the shore, including the outdoor patio at Shoreline Lake’s American Bistro.
