Northern California’s celebrated and beloved Great Glass Pumpkin Patch returns to Palo Alto for another spectacular year, October 1-2, 2022. Benefiting the Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI), the Palo Alto Art Center, the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation, and participating glass artists, the free outdoor event attracts more than 5,000 people annually to the grounds of the Palo Alto Art Center.
The weekend exhibit features over 10,000 unique and one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins, gourds, and autumnal keepsakes – in countless arrays of colors and sizes, ranging in height from 1 inch to 2 feet – all available for purchase.
“As a community arts event, the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch provides us with an important touchpoint to connect with the community in Palo Alto, surrounding Bay Area residents, and a growing network of arts and culture tourists around the world,” says Bay Area Glass Institute Executive Director Sarah Corneille.
Since its founding in 1996, the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch has raised over $6 million. “The proceeds from this event help sustain the important work of our three presenting arts nonprofits,” says Palo Alto Art Center Foundation Director of Development Karen Kwan. She adds, “But perhaps most importantly, the event raises money that has ensured more than 50 living glass artists can thrive in such a volatile economy.”
Additional activities taking place the weekend of the exhibit include glass-blowing demonstrations and fun for the entire family.
