SF’s 2024 “I Love Tenderloin Week” Festival (April 21-27)

The Tenderloin district of San Francisco proudly announces the return of ‘I Love Tenderloin Week,’ scheduled from Sunday, April 21st through Saturday, April 27th, 2024 with 40+ venues and neighborhood organizations joining forces to create 21 different events with a combination of block parties, resource fairs, competitions, and more throughout the Tenderloin – most of which are free.

Now in its second year, the event has rapidly become a tradition, reflecting Tenderloin Neighborhood Pride, the area’s resilience, cultural diversity, and strong community engagement. Through collaborative efforts among local organizations, small businesses, and other citywide institutions, this week-long celebration consists of over two dozen events that invite both residents and visitors to connect with the neighborhood’s rich cultural, culinary, and artistic offerings.

  • Event will begin with opportunities to join GLIDE Memorial Church’s historic Celebration services either from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, or, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • And then, from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM, GLIDE’s historic, Freedom Hall will be open for a Luncheon served by one of GLIDE’s legacy programs, Daily Free Meals
  • The event will then conclude, with a meet and greet with GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice when residents will hear about social justice campaigns, community partnerships, and opportunities and events for youth coming up in 2024!

Additional Info: Jazz & Justice Sunday will begin with GLIDE Memorial Church’s renowned Sunday Celebration! Come and hear Minister Marvin K. White’s inspirational message of Hope & Unconditional Love. It is a unique SF Glide Church experience! Additionally, hear the jazzy & melodic sounds of Maurice Shelby, a famous & celebrated Jazz Artist, who will be featured at both the 9:00 AM and 11am services. After joining GLIDE’s Sunday Celebrations, join us at a Glide MC Luncheon in Freedom Hall. Meals will be prepared by Jonathon Fennell, GLIDE’s Chef for the community. Then from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM, come hear updates, events, GLIDE MC news, social justice campaigns, community partnerships, opportunities & events for youth coming up in 2024!

2-3pm (Second Floor): Arabic Story Hour, followed by crafts for children and families in the Children’s Center
3-4pm (Fifth Floor): Streaming Music Listening Party in The Bridge’s Learning Studio

We will also have photographs of the Tenderloin by photographer Judi Iranyi mounted throughout the Main Library. There will be a photobooth for families and folks to take pictures, lots of food for TL residents, and library tours in various languages. Attendees will receive swag throughout the library branded with TL artist design and SFPL logo.
