SF’s Festive Larger-Than-Life Ornament Trail 2025 (Dec. 6-24)

SF’s Ornament Trail is back in Union Square, bringing 11 oversized holiday ornaments created by local artists to Powell Street and the surrounding area.
Running daily from December 6 through December 24, the free, self-guided trail invites you to take a holiday walk through downtown and discover each larger-than-life ornament along the route. Start by picking up an Ornament Trail Guide at the Cable Car Turnaround at Powell and Market, then explore Union Square at your own pace as you track them all down.
Each ornament is designed by a local artist, making the trail part public art installation and part holiday tradition. The ornaments are spread throughout the district, so it works well whether you are planning a full visit or just adding something festive to an afternoon downtown.
Once you have found all 11 ornaments and taken a photo with each one, head back to the Cable Car Turnaround to redeem a prize. Photos are encouraged, and you can tag @unionsquaresf if you want to share your finds. The Ornament Trail Presented by LendingClub will be open for prize redemption every day from 11am – 6pm; of course, you’re welcome to view the ornaments anytime.
