EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.
Social Basket Case is a social sculpture that taps into our hopes, dreams, fears and goals through an interactive, collective “dream-weaving” experience by local Bay Artist, E Lizabeth Marley.
Social Basket Case: Free Family Friendly Activation
First Sundays, Nov 2018 through Jan 2019 | 11 am-4 pm
Asian Art Museum’s Village Artist Corner
FREEEvery first Sunday from November through January, weave your feelings into a collective sculpture and show that they are common threads shared with those around you.
Each Sunday will offer an additional dimension of expression, such as wind chimes in December and a performance in January as the finale. Village Artist-in-Resident, Elizabeth Marley, believes that creating social connection in the public realm activates one’s own hopes, dreams, fears and goals, and can shed light on shared concerns.
Marley believes that revealing personal or collective weaknesses in the context of Social Basket Case can serve as a reminder that underneath we are all quite similar.
Pour-over Ethiopian coffee for purchase from SF Coffee Cruiser, a locally youth-owned family business. Major activations will take place on Target First Free Sundays, when the museum offers free general admission courtesy of Target.
