Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and Livermore Fil-Am will honor Filipino American History Month with the Fourth Annual Filipino Barrio Fiesta – a free, family-friendly community event on Sunday, October 6th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
4th Annual Filipino Barrio Fiesta
Sunday, October 6, 2019 | 10 am to 2 pm
Bankhead Theater, 2400 1st St, Livermore
FREEJoin and learn more about Filipino American culture. Throughout the event, there will be performances:
- Fil-Am Veterans Rondalla
- Joseph Galang
- Ruben Birondo
- Saint Michael’s Youth Choir
- Pallen’s Martial Arts
- Maddie B
- Mini Mix’d
- Kali Association of America
- Livermore Fil-Am Dance Troupe
- Hula Ikaika Ohana O Kaawai-E Honu Iti E
- Freestyle Dance Collective
- Hosted by: Randy Fortes
During the event there will be historical artifacts from Bayani Art, WELGA Project posters, Bulosan Center interviews on display. Kristian Kabuay will be on site leading a Baybayin community art project.
We will be presenting an award to the following people and organizations for their contributions to the world as Filipino Americans:
- Simone Hufana of Color Her Story is receiving a, “Heart of My People Award”
- Livermore Fil-Am is receiving an LVPAC Multicultural Partner Award
An altar will be made as a place to pay respect to those Fil-Am that came before. It is encouraged to bring roses, fruits, photos of loved ones, coins, and other objects of affection to display on the altar.
