Friday, May 2, 2014
The Pizza Underground | First Friday Concert Series | Oakland

Macaulay Culkin has a pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band, The Pizza Underground.

Not content to merely play the classics, Culkin’s anti-folk group has called themselves the Pizza Underground. As the name suggests, they re-imagine the VU catalogue and other Lou Reed songs… but all of the songs are about pizza.

This means we have not “I’m Waiting for the Man,” but rather “I’m Waiting for Delivery Man.” Not “Femme Fatale,” but “Pizza Gal.” The Pizza Underground dwells on sartorial choices not simply for “All Tomorrow’s Parties,” but ”All the Pizza Parties.” Culkin even offers a kazoo solo on “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice.”

Additional acts performing include The Frail, Toby Goodshank, Bam! Bam!, plus special guests.
