Nearly 50% of all the food produced in the United States is wasted each year. This comes at an enormously high social, environmental and financial cost. Food Shift works to build a more just and sustainable food system by connecting the dots between food waste and hunger. The organization works with consumers, businesses and communities broadly to build awareness, change perceptions and close the gaps in food delivery and consumption, all of which contribute to the paradox of food waste and hunger in our society.
