Event Details

The distinguished actor, Emmy-winning narrator, author, activist and fully transmitted Zen Buddhist priest, Peter Coyote, joins Dean Malcolm Clemens Young and dean emeritus Alan Jones for a conversation about mentors, the spiritual quest, the power of art and maybe some tales from the Summer of Love.

Peter Coyote has played roles in over 145 films, is an Emmy-Award winning narrator of over 120 documentary films and has written two books: a memoir of the 1960s counter-culture called Sleeping Where I Fall and The Rainman’s Third Cure: An Irregular Education about mentors and the search for wisdom, which was nominated for one of the top five books in Northern California in 2015. He co-founded The Diggers, an anarchist group famous for free food, free stores, free medical clinics and free crash pads. Coyote has served as policy advisor to Governor Edmund Brown Jr. As a member (and later Chairman) of the California Arts Council, he was credited with many of the policies and political strategies which raised the budget from $1 million to $18 million annually. Coyote currently lives on a small farm with two dogs and 40 fruit trees.
