A free movie night at 924 Gilman, showing the award-winning indie flick “Gummo.” The 1997 movie follows two teenage boys in a poor 70’s Ohio town as they pass the time with everything from sniffing glue, killing cats and meeting strange characters along the way.
924 Gilman is a non-profit, all-ages, alcohol-free art and music space run by volunteers. Its rent has recently skyrocketed, putting the legendary venue in jeopardy. Any receipts and food or drink sales help keep it afloat. There’s usually a little store inside selling dirt cheap drinks and snacks ($0.75 sodas, $1 juices, $1.75 burritos, $0.75 candy bars, $1 Cliff Bars.)
Public Transit Access: From Downtown Berkeley BART, take the AC Transit #9 bus to 8th & Gilman.
