Event Details

Centering on the historic fight to win marriage equality in Maryland, “The New Black” takes viewers into the pews, onto the streets, and provides a seat at the kitchen table as it looks at how the African American community grapples with the divisive gay rights issue.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Post-screening community discussion features:

  • Rev. Dr. Amos C. Brown, Pastor at Third Baptist Church, NAACP Board Member, and civil rights activist
  • Watufani Poe, Alumni Program Associate at GSA Network and youth activist
  • Monica Anderson, aka Kin Folkz, Founder of Spectrum Queer Media and creator of The New Black Freedom Summer Tour

Doors open at 5:45 pm
6 pm: Film screening begins
7 pm: Panel & community discussion
8-8:30 pm: Open time to mingle & view exhibits
