Dropped in the middle of a Happy Hour that’s been hailed as one of the best in the city, there’s free oysters on the half shell at El Rio every Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. until they run out. The mollusc freebies come courtesy of the fine folks at the Tomales Bay Oyster Company who told us they do it out of pure benevolence, to “give a little so the people can enjoy something they can’t often have.”

If it’s been too long since you’ve had the (usually very pricey) oysters or you’ve never had the courage to but you’re feeling bold, come down early because they go fast. The famous oyster shucker artist Jackie will be happy to reacquaint you with the delectable marine treats.
