Hardcore was made in the spirit of cinematographic experimentation. Director De Maria, who also composed the film’s soundtrack, explores video as a medium for aesthetic observation against the backdrop of Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

Part of California Highs, California Lows. Museum and program admission are free. Showtimes are noon and 12:30 p.m.
