Join in on Friday, July 6 at 1 pm to celebrate Frida Kahlo’s 111th birthday.
Everyone will gather at 11 Frida Kahlo Way, formerly Phelan Avenue, near Ocean Avenue, in front of City College of San Francisco’s Old Bookstore Annex.
After some birthday cake, everyone will walk in procession with Frida Kahlo masks down the newly renamed Frida Kahlo Way to the site of City College’s planned Performing Arts Education Center.
They will also honor René Yañez, Chicano artist and cultural director, who re-introduced Frida Kahlo to San Francisco in the late ’70s. René recently passed away and is mourned by many artists, activists, and community members.
