Event Details

Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, talks and more. Season Eight is every Friday night from March 30 – November 23, 2012.

This weekly after-hours art “happening” changes every week, but typically includes a mix of live music, dance performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, special performances, hands-on art activities and more. Plus the observation tower is open until 8:15pm.

August 10, 2012: Global Village – Part II

Wilsey Court | 6:30 P.M.

  • Multidisciplinary music and dance featuring Dholryhthms, La Gente, Sascha Jacobsen & Trio Garufa, DJ Lady Ryan, Raw-G, La Mixta Criolla, Nicole Klaymoon’s Embodiment Project
  • Hands-on art making for everyone

Koret Auditorium | 6:30 P.M.

  • Film: Jean Paul Gaultier or How to Subvert Haute Couture (Farida Khelfa, 2011)
    *Free tickets for the film will be available at 5:30 p.m. in front of the auditorium.

Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of free interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, and lectures every Friday night. The above listed activities for “Friday Nights at the de Young” are free and located in the public spaces of the museum. But please note that even on Friday nights, the museums’ galleries are not free and require a regular admission ticket.
