Jazz and More at the Cove in Santa Rosa

On Feb 16 at 7:30 p.m. join the Jazz Messengers String Quartet and Curious Planet for a night of Jazz at the Cove in Santa Rosa. This adventurous night will feature two bands, plus some special guests, performing a unique spin on the wide world of jazz.
These two bands will feature virtuosic musicians from the Santa Rosa Symphony who are steppin’ out of the concert hall and bringing you some swinging jazz, funk, blues and more.
The Jazz Messengers String Quartet wants to bring you back there through a fresh look at old jazz. No horns, no drums, but a stripped down, blistering expression of hard hitting jazz on string instruments. Sultry vocals and a crazy amount of rhythm, and a depth of passion, make the Jazz Messengers String Quartet a group for people that love the bop standards and also for people who want to hear the old straight jacket of jazz ripped off
Curious Planet, a very fun Jazz/Funk band, came together in late 2019. Bandleader Sunny the Sax intuitively organized the ensemble from various gigs, jams, and classes, by choosing players who he felt would gel together, and gel they have. It’s a balanced group of old and young, male and female, and various spiritual traditions.
