Wanna hear some stories over tea and cookies?
Join award winning KALW radio host, podcaster and voice actor Hana Baba as she tells Folktales from Sudan- the stories she grew up with in her Sudanese American home. Bring the whole family for an uplifting afternoon of stories, songs with live musical accompaniment by oud musician Ahmed Alejail, and community – live at KALW’s 220 Montgomery events studio.
Through engaging storytelling, Hana introduces audiences to magical tales from a rich East African tradition— stories that build empathy, curiosity, and a love for global cultures. Now more than ever, hearing stories about different cultures is essential. Folktales from Sudan makes it fun and exciting through timeless stories that inspire understanding and connection.
The best way to raise a global citizen? Start with stories! Folktales from Sudan brings the world to your family through adventure, wisdom, and laughter – plus catchy tunes to sing along to in Sudanese Arabic!
