In her first work since 2019, choreographer Liss Fain brings Here.Take It. to Z Space in San Francisco, November 11-13. Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm
The choreographer’s many pre-dawn trips to the isolated and fog-laden Pierce Point Ranch in Tomales Bay during the pandemic are the inspiration for this evening length dance/installation about the “course-corrections” one finds and then makes when life takes a decisive and unexpected turn.
It features six dancers Allegra Bautista, Bethany Mitchell, Katherine Neumann, Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, Isabel Rosenstock, Isabel Umali and actor Florentina Mocanuand navigating the abstracted interior of a barn designed by Matthew Antaky with an original score by Dan Wool; the piece is a forceful statement on solitude, community, decisiveness and clarity in the face of daunting circumstances can emerge seemingly out of nowhere.
