Event Details

Join us for a joyous celebration of Asian + African American solidarity at our Lunar New Year x Black History Month Celebration!

This year’s stage will vibrate with drumming and the rich colors of lion dancers and folk traditions. Our main stage will feature the Toishan Association Lion Dancers, Afro-Filipino MPWRD Collective, Patty Chu’s Chinese Dance Troupe, queer lion dance troupe Comrade Lover, Bantaba Drum Call, Urisawe Korean Drumming, and SambaFunk! The Kids + Teens Zone storytimes will feature award-winning picture book author Dr. JaNay Brown-Wood (Jam, Too?, Shhh! The Baby’s Asleep), YA fantasy author Aimee Phan (The Lost Queen), and craft activities led by Storyland Collective. The marketplace returns with a curated selection of local Black and Asian vendors, including community pillars Eastwind Books and Marcus Books.
This event is part of OACC’s ongoing Open E.A.R.S. for Change initiative, which started in 2020 to build stronger relationships among local APIA and Black communities.
