To celebrate the Year of the Ox, we’ve put together a special treat inspired by a Lunar New Year tradition from Northern China. Every year, families gather during the holiday to wrap dumplings together for a giant feast! Inside one of these little potstickers, they’ll hide a single red date. During dinner, whoever bites into the dumpling with the hidden date is declared the winner, and showered with luck and fortune for the coming year. And, in many households, being the lucky date eater also meant getting a freshly minted Jackson! It’s similar to the red envelope tradition, but with a competitive streak!
To share the fun of the holiday, and give our community something fun to do to spice up the quarantine monotony, we’re sharing this tradition with Mamahuhu customers! Between 2/11 and 2/17, all of our Mamahuhu potsticker orders contain a dumpling with a hidden red date so people can play at home! And, to raise the stakes, we’re hiding a Mamahuhu gift card inside one outgoing order a day… Here’s to a lucky 2021!
