Join Us! Upcoming Arts Event Lights Up San Francisco Chinatown on October 23, 2021, from 7:00PM to 10:00PM.
We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming arts event Neon Was Never Brighter: A Glimpse Into the Future presented by Chinatown Media & Arts Collaborative (CMAC) and curated by Candace Huey of re.riddle.
This spectacular, multi-sensorial, outdoor experience showcases artworks created from diverse media such as performance, sculpture, interactive sound, site-specific installation, film, music, fashion, virtual reality, scent and dance.
As a movement for transformation, CMAC presents Neon Was Never Brighter to harness the power of art and culture to contribute to the social and economic recovery of Chinatown, as well as the shaping of a more inclusive and just America. The nonprofit organization celebrates the intersection of community, art and media, which is crucial during this period in Chinatown’s history. The ongoing global pandemic, financial hardship and anti-Asian sentiment has angled the AAPI community in the San Francisco Bay Area towards more critical awareness. As such, the organization’s event reflects on Chinatown’s resilience and fortitude by honoring its unique history and diverse cultural landscape, all the while affirming an initiative of optimism and hope for the future.
We are honored to collaborate with an illustrious group of artists: Bijun Liang, Billy Ola Hutchinson, Brian Singer, Chet Canlas, Corey Tong, Danny Clay, Dorothy Quock, Haoyun Erin Zhao, Felicia Lowe, Fernanda D’Agostino, Heesoo Kwon, James Q. Chan, Knxout, Lauren Lee McCarthy, Mark Baugh-Sasaki, Miche Wong, Mike Arcega, Paolo Asuncion, Penelope Wong, Summer Mei Ling Lee, Theresa Wong, Tony Remington, Victor Tung, and Yosh Han.
